“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” –2 Chronicles 7:14

It is Sunday morning.  Why not start your week by worshipping the Lord?  Don’t have a church home?  The churches of Christ in the Shenandoah Valley would love for you to visit.  Not that familiar with the Bible?  The Valley churches would love to help you with that as well.  We have a variety of Bible study helps, such as Bible Correspondences Courses, tracts, home Bible studies, etc.  Let us know, and we will be glad to assist you.  And they are all absolutely free!  We don’t charge for teaching God’s word.  It is what Jesus commands us to do in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20;  Mark 16:15-16; Luke 24:46-47).

Check your local listings for a church of Christ near you.  The church in Strasburg is located at 467 Aileen Avenue.  That is just off of Queen Street.  Services times:  Bible classes – 9:30; Worship – 10:30.  We would love to see you!Image

As I sit here holding three month old granddaughter, who only wants to sleep today while I hold her, I am thinking about the many excellent Facebook posts I have seen over the last few days concerning the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.

Christians realize that, without the sacrifice of the Son of God on the cross, and the subsequent resurrection, we would have no hope of a resurrection to eternal life.  But, I wonder how many will celebrate his resurrection this time of year, and give his death little thought until this time next year?

Will you think about it tomorrow, next week, next month?  Or will you return to your daily routine tomorrow, and put the Lord’s sacrifice on the shelf until next year?

Think about it.

It is Sunday morning.  What are your plans?

It is Sunday morning.  What are your plans for today?  Do they include Bible Study and Worship?  Why is that important?  Is it just so you can satisfy the wishes of a significant other?  Is it so you can learn more of God’s Word?  Is it so you can teach and encourage others?  Is it so you can worship God?  Is it so you can fellowship with others?  Is it so you can be uplifted and encouraged?  The answer is yes to all of the above, but not necessarlyly in that order.  Why not attend Bible Study and worship today and receive geat benefits for yourself and benefet others who attend?  The Strasburg Church of Christ meets at 467 Aileen Avenue in Strasburg.  Bible Study is at 9:30,  worship at 10:30.  If you live in the Strasburg area, see you there!

Often those who favor same-sex marriage offer the argument, “Jesus did not say that gay marriage was as sin.”  No, He did not!  But He did give His divine definition of marriage:  “And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,  And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?  Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder” (Matthew 19:4-6).  How does same-sex marriage fit into that definition of marriage?

Now the FDA has approved the “morning after pill”

Now the FDA has approved the “morning after pill” for girls as young as 15.  Immediately certain passages of scripture come to mind.  First, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”  (Prov. 22:6).  Second,  “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”  (Eph 6:4).  If parents obeyed these scriptures, then children would develop a deep respect for God and scripture, and would avoid getting themselves into a situation where they would need this abortion pill.    See colossians 3:4-6.
